A Schröder map is a holomorphic function \(\varphi\) on the unit disk \(\mathbb{D}\) satisfying the following properties: \(\varphi(\mathbb{D})\subset \mathbb{D}\), \(\varphi\) is not an automorphism of \(\mathbb{D}\) and there exists \(\alpha\in\mathbb{D}\) such that \(\varphi(\alpha)=\alpha\) and \(\varphi'(\alpha)\ne 0\). The aim of this paper is to study the spectrum of the composition operator \(C_\varphi\), defined on \(\mathrm{Hol}(\mathbb{D})\) by \(C_\varphi f=f\circ\varphi\), and the solvability of the non-homogeneous Schröder equation \[ (C_\varphi-\lambda)f=g \qquad (f,g\in \mathrm{Hol}(\mathbb{D}), \lambda\in\mathbb{C}). \] The main results about the spectrum state that \(\sigma(C_\varphi)=\{0\}\cup\{\varphi'(\alpha)^n: n=0,1,\cdots\}\) and that the essential spectrum is reduced to \(\{0\}\). In addition, the authors also study similar problems for arbitrary Banach spaces of holomorphic functions.
