Let \(K\subset \mathbb{R}^{n}\) be an origin-symmetric convex body (compact and convex with nonempty interior such that \(K=-K\)) and \(K^{\circ}\) the polar body defined by \(K^{\circ}=\{y\in \mathbb{R}^{n}:\left \langle y,z\right \rangle \leq1,\ \forall z\in K\}.\) The Blaschke-Santaló inequality states that \(\mathrm{vol}(K)\mathrm{vol}(K^{\circ})\leq \omega_{n}^{2}\ \)and equality holds if, and only if, \(K\) is a centered ellipsoid, where \(\omega_{n}\) is the volume of the Euclidean unit ball \(B_{2}^{n}\subset \mathbb{R}^{n}\) for \(n\geq2\). If \(K\) is not origin-symmetric, then there is a unique point \(s=s(K)\in K\) for which the volume of \((K-s)^{\circ}\) is minimized (see [\textit{R. Schneider}, Convex bodies: the Brunn-Minkowski theory. 2nd expanded ed. Cambridge: Cambridge University Press (2014; Zbl 1287.52001)] for references). This point \(s\) is called the Santaló point of \(K\) and one has \(\mathrm{vol}(K)\mathrm{vol}((K-s)^{\circ})\leq \omega_{n}^{2}\); equality holds if, and only if, \(K\) is an ellipsoid. The product volume in the above Blaschke-Santaló inequality remains bounded by \(\omega_{n}^{2}\) when the Santaló point s of \(K\) is replaced by the center of mass \(\mathbf{c} =\mathbf{c}(K)\) of \(K\). In fact, we have \(\mathrm{vol}(K)\mathrm{vol}((K-\mathbf{c})^{\circ })\leq \omega_{n}^{2}\ \)and equality holds if, and only if, \(K\) is an ellipsoid. Blaschke-Santaló inequalities have great influence in different areas. The authors present a detailed account of several developments originating in these inequalities. In particular, \textit{E. Lutwak} et al. [Ann. Probab. 32, No. 1B, 757--774 (2004; Zbl 1053.60004)] obtained an inequality that provides a sharp lower bound for the moments of the inner product of random variables in terms of their \(\lambda\)-Rényi entropy. In this paper, the authors establish functional asymmetric versions of the Blaschke-Santaló inequality. As consequences of these inequalities they recover the corresponding geometric counterparts with equality cases as well as an inequality that was firstly obtained by Lutwak et al. A study on an \(L_{p}\) functional analogue to the center of mass, necessary for the proofs, is presented. The paper contains many important results, connected with classical results from the rich literature on the subject. Challenging problems are also presented.
