Let \(\Omega\) be a bounded Lipschitz domain of \(\mathbb{R}^N\). This paper is concerned with the existence of nonnegative solutions \(u\), vanishing on the boundary of \(\Omega\), for the nonlinear equation \[ -\mathrm{div}\Big(\frac{D u}{|D u|}\Big) + |D u| = a(x)u + h(x,u),\qquad x\in\Omega. \] Under some sign, smoothness, boundedness and monotonicity assumptions on the functions \(a\) and \(h\), the authors prove the existence of a function \(u\in BV(\Omega)\cap L^\infty(\Omega)\) such that \(u>0\) a.e. in \(\Omega\), the jump part of the singular measure coming from the Lebesgue decomposition of \(Du\) is zero, the trace of \(u\) on \(\partial\Omega\) is zero, there exists a bounded divergence-measure vector field \(\sigma\) with \(\|\sigma\|_{L^\infty(\Omega)}\leq1\) satisfying \(-\operatorname{div}\sigma + |D u| = a(x)u + h(x,u)\) as distributions in \(\Omega\) and \((\sigma\cdot Du)=|Du|\) as measures in \(\Omega\). Here, the pairing \((\sigma\cdot Du)\) stands for the distribution \(\operatorname{div}(u\sigma)-u\operatorname{div}\sigma\) which by a classical paper of G. Anzellotti is known to be a signed Radon measure. The main novelty is that the sub-supersolutions method is used with the above notion of solution.
