In this paper, the authors deal with the problem of providing a polynomial curve that approximates a given real rational plane curve. As it is well known polynomial curves are characterized as those rational curves having only one place at infinity, and there are symbolic algorithms checking this, for parametrizing and for reparametrizing polynomially when possible. So, to approach the problem stated, by authors here, they decompose the field of the reals as a union of finitely many intervals paying attention to the poles of the input real rational parametrization. In addition, the asymptotes are also analyzed. A related approach to the problem can be seen in [\textit{S. Pérez-Díaz} et al., Appl. Algebra Eng. Commun. Comput. 18, No. 1--2, 91--105 (2007; Zbl 1192.14048)].
