The author proves that the topological freeness of Rieffel's induced representation functor implies that any \(C^*\)-algebra generated by a faithful covariant representation of a Hilbert bimodule \(X\) over a \(C^*\)-algebra \(A\) is canonically isomorphic to the crossed product \(A \rtimes \mathbb{Z}\), see [\textit{B. Abadie} et al., Trans. Am. Math. Soc. 350, No. 8, 3043--3054 (1998; Zbl 0899.46053)] and \textit{P. S. Muhly} and \textit{B. Solel} [J. Funct. Anal. 158, No. 2, 389--457 (1998; Zbl 0912.46070)]. As a corollary, he provides an ideal lattice description and a simplicity criterion for the algebras under consideration.
