Exponential gaps in the length spectrum (Q2023718)

The aim of this paper is to present a separation property for the gaps in the length spectrum of a compact Riemannian manifold with negative curvature. In arbitrary small neighborhoods of the metric for some suitable topology, the author shows that there are negatively curved metrics with a length spectrum exponentially separated from below. This property was previously known to be false generically. This paper is organized as follows. Section 1 is an introduction to the subject. Section 2 deals with separation of orbits in phase space. Section 3 deals with almost intersections of closed geodesics. Section 4 is devoted to the proof of the main result.
