The authors develop a broad generalisation of statistical mechanical mapping of quantum error correction codes [\textit{E. Dennis} et al., J. Math. Phys. 43, No. 9, 4452--4505 (2002, Zbl 1060.94045); \textit{K. Fujii}, Interdiscip. Inf. Sci. 19, No. 1 (2013, Zbl 1288.81029)] for models with correlated Pauli noise. Article starts with mathematical preliminaries and definitions followed by recollection of the case with independent noise and further extension into spatial, spatio-temporal correlations and circuit-based noise. The relation between error correction threshold and phase transition in the corresponding statistical model is an essential feature of used approach. Monte Carlo simulations are performed for estimation of the noise threshold in some cases. An application of tensor network methods for optimal decoding is discussed finally.
