The paper under review introduces and studies a version for the minimum norm of the property \(L_{o,o}\) introduced in [\textit{S. Dantas} et al., J. Math. Anal. Appl. 468, No. 1, 304--323 (2018; Zbl 1412.46022)]. Given Banach spaces \(X\) and \(Y\), write \(L(X,Y)\) for the space of all bounded linear operators from \(X\) to \(Y\) and let \(m(T)=\inf\{\|Tx\|\colon x\in X,\ \|x\|=1\}\) be the minimum norm of \(T\in L(X,Y)\). A pair of Banach spaces \((X,Y)\) has the \textit{approximate minimizing property} (\emph{AMp} in short) for \(\mathcal{F}\subset L(X,Y)\) if for every \(\varepsilon>0\) and every \(T\in \mathcal F\), there exists \(\delta(\varepsilon,T)>0\) such that if \(x_0\in X\) with \(\|x\|=1\) satisfies that \(\|Tx_0\|<m(T)+\delta(\varepsilon,T)\), then there exists \(x_1\in X\) with \(\|x_1\|=1\), \(\|T(x_1)\|=m(T)\), and \(\|x_0-x_1\|<\varepsilon\). Several interesting results are provided in the paper under review. The following two are just a sample. \begin{itemize} \item A Banach space \(Z\) is finite dimensional if and only if \((Z,Y)\) satisfies the AMp for \(L(Z,Y)\) for every Banach space \(Y\) if and only if \((X,Z)\) satisfies the AMp for \(L(X,Z)\) for every Banach space \(X\). \item If \(X\) is reflexive and \(Y\) arbitrary, then \((X,Y)\) satisfies the AMp for the class of all operators from \(X\) to \(Y\) which are not one-to-one and having closed range. \end{itemize}
