The authors propose a novel sequential permutation search optimization algorithm for the stacking sequence design of composite cylindrical panels in order to maximize the fundamental frequency. The Rayleigh-Ritz method is applied to gain the vibration frequencies accommodating arbitrary boundaries. By using the Kirchhoff hypothesis, the Donnell's shallow shell theory is employed in deriving the mathematical models. The maximizing optimization problem is formulating for seeking the best stacking sequence belonging to the laminated composite cylindrical panels. The optimization problem indicates that the weight of the panel is constant.
