Let \(p\) be a prime number, and let \(F\) be a finite extension of \(\mathbb Q_p\) with ring of integers \(\mathcal O\). Let \(G=\mathrm{GL}_2(F)\), \(K=\mathrm{GL}_2(\mathcal O)\), and \(Z\) be the center of \(G\). An irreducible smooth representation \(\pi\) of \(G\) over an algebraically closed characteristic \(p\) field \(k\) with central character is called of finite presentation, if there exists an irreducible smooth representation \(\sigma\) of \(KZ\) and a surjection \(\mathrm{ind}_{KZ}^G \sigma \twoheadrightarrow \pi\), where \(\mathrm{ind}_{KZ}^G \sigma\) denotes the compactly induced representation, such that the kernel is finitely generated as a \(k[G]\)-module. The author shows that if \([F:\mathbb Q_p]\ge 2\), then an irreducible smooth supersingular representation of \(G\) with central character is not of finite presentation. The theorem extends a previous result of \textit{B. Schraen} [J. Reine Angew. Math. 704, 187--208 (2015; Zbl 1321.22025)] for quadratic extensions.
