Consider a lattice \(\Gamma\) in a semisimple Lie group \(G\) satisfying the assumptions of \textit{R. P. Langlands} [On the functional equations satisfied by Eisenstein series. Lecture Notes in Mathematics. 544. Berlin-Heidelberg-York: Springer-Verlag (1976; Zbl 0332.10018)]. The author gives precise rates of effective equidistribution for expanding translates of pieces of horospherical orbits in the homogeneous space \(\Gamma/G\). To this end, the method of \textit{M. Burger} [Duke Math. J. 61, No. 3, 779--803 (1990; Zbl 0723.58041)] is extended to general semisimple Lie groups.
