The authors prove conjectures of \textit{H. Darmon} et al. [Ann. Math. Qué. 40, No. 2, 325--354 (2016; Zbl 1417.11115)] and \textit{H. Darmon} and \textit{V. Rotger} [Res. Math. Sci. 3, Paper No. 27, 32 p. (2016; Zbl 1416.11096)] on \(p\)-adic properties of modular forms. Let \(g\) be a cuspidal normalized newform with nebentype \(\chi\) of conductor \(N\), and fix a prime \(p\nmid N\). The work of Darmon-Lauder-Rotger associates to these data a certain \(p\)-adic iterated integral \(I_p(g)\), constructed via Kato's Siegel unit. The first main result (Theorem A in the paper under review) then expresses \(I_p(g)\) as a `motivic' determinant of \(p\)-adic logarithms of units constructed from the adjoint representation \(\operatorname{ad}^0(g)\) of \(g\). The authors also restate Theorem A as an explicit formula for Hida's analytic \(\mathcal{L}\)-invariant associated to the adjoint representation \(\operatorname{ad}^0(g)\) (Theorem A'). The second main result (Theorem B) establishes a similar formula for the derived Beilinson-Flach class associated to \(g\). Finally, the authors also give a formula for the Bloch-Kato logarithm of the derived Beilinson-Flach class in terms of the special value at \(0\) of a certain \(p\)-adic \(L\)-function attached to \(g\) (Theorem C).
