In this article, the authors investigate the behavior of the continuum function in the presence of non-supercompact strongly compact cardinal. First, they show that if \(\kappa\) is strongly compact and \(2^\kappa=\kappa^+\), then we can make \(2^\kappa\) arbitrarily large while preserving the strong compactness of \(\kappa\). Before this result, it was not known if such a model can be obtained without a stronger large cardinal assumption. Then, using the method in the proof, they prove various consistency results about strongly compact cardinals and the continuum functions.
