The fluid ball conjecture is discussed. According to that conjecture, a spacetime containing a static perfect fluid is spherically symmetric. The authors prove that the outer spacetime corresponding to a static perfect fluid is a Schwarzschild (or flat) spacetime, provided some energy conditions are fulfilled.
