Rational numbers defined in terms of certain generalized series (Q2043758)

In a book by \textit{J. Galambos} [Representations of real numbers by infinite series. Lecture Notes in Math. 502. Berlin-Heidelberg-New York: Springer-Verlag. VI, 146 p. (1976; Zbl 0322.10002)], several problems are posed concerning representations of rational numbers by infinite series. The author of the paper under review is concentrated on the so-called fourth problem and obtains results towards a criterion of representability of rational numbers in terms of sign variable Cantor expansions. The proofs are quite technical.
