Let \(C\) be a smooth projective curve of genus \(g\). Let \(B^k_{1,d}\) denote the set of all rank \(1\) line bundles \(L\) on \(C\) such that \(h^0(L)\ge k\). Let \(\mathcal{MS}(2n,K)\) denote the set of all stable rank \(2n\) symplectic vector bundles on \(C\) with determinant \(K\). Let \(\mathcal{MS}^k_{2n,K}\) denote the set of all \(E\in \mathcal {MS}_{2n,K}\) such the \(h^0(E) \ge k\), i.e. the Brill-Noether theory for rank \(2n\) symplectic bundles with canonical determinant. The authors gives existence theorem and upper bounds on the dimensions of the irreducible components of these Brill-Noether loci. They use very carefully several tools in the Brill-Noether theory for vector bundles (with due quotations) and give key improvement to some of them, e.g. to [\textit{V. Mercat}, Manuscripta Math. 98, No. 1, 75--85 (1999; Zbl 0976.14021)] and [\textit{I. Choe} and \textit{G. H. Hitching}, Int. J. Math. 25, No. 5, Article ID 1450047, 27 p. (2014; Zbl 1314.14061)].
