Let \(1\leq n<m\). Consider the norm on \(\mathbb{R}^3\) defined by \[ ||| (a, b, c) ||| _{m,n} = \sup \left\{|ax^m + b x^{m-n} y^n + c y^m| : x, y \in [-1, 1] \right\}. \] The authors provide an explicit formula for this norm and description of extreme points of the corresponding unit ball in the cases when \(m=2n\) or \(m\) is odd. Results can be viewed as an extension of results by \textit{G. A. Muñoz-Fernández} and \textit{J. B. Seoane-Sepúlveda} [J. Math. Anal. Appl. 340, No. 2, 1069--1087 (2008; Zbl 1169.46006)], where the norms \[ \| (a, b, c) \| _{m,n} = \sup \left\{|Ax^m + b x^{n} + c | : x\in [-1, 1] \right\} \] were studied, since it can be shown that \[ ||| (a, b, c) ||| _{m,n} = \max \left\{ \| (a, b, c) \| _{m,m-n}, \| (c, b, a) \| _{m,n} \right\}. \]
