This paper focuses on the cerebellar mechanism for gain and timing control for eye movements, actually more on the gain control for the optokinetic response (OKR). The authors are using the neural network technology and are inspired by earlier research in this domain. One introduces a cerebellar ring network with synaptic plasticity for the optokinetic response adaptation. The ring is composed of a granular layer, the Purkinje-molecular layer and the VN-IO part. The second section of the article is devoted to a detailed presentation of the architecture of the ring network. One shows the used leaky integrate-and-fire (LIF) neuron model, the equations governing the dynamics in the model together with a description of the synaptic currents and synaptic plasticity. The effect of different ways of recording the granule (GR) cells on motor learning for the OKR adaptation by means of varying the connection probability \(p_c\) from the Golgi (GO) to GR cells is largely investigated in the third section. One studies different cases as the firing activity in the population of GR cells, the dynamical classification of spiking patterns of GR clusters, the effect of diverse recording in GR clusters on synaptic plasticity at PF-PC synapses or the effect of PF-PC synaptic plasticity on the learning process in the PC-VN-IO system. Comments and a large discussion on present results, and the connection to earlier works on same subject and future trends are contained in the last section of the paper.
