The authors consider the subcritical elliptic problem \[ -\Delta u-\mu_0\epsilon^\alpha\frac{u}{|x|^2}=|u|^{2^*-2-\epsilon}u \quad{\text{in}}\ \Omega\,, \qquad u=0 \quad\text{on}\ \partial\Omega\,, \] where \(\Omega\) is a bounded open subset of \({\mathbb{R}}^N\) that contains the origin and has a certain symmetry group, \(N\geq 7\), \(2^*\equiv\frac{2N}{N-2}\), \(\alpha>\frac{N-4}{N-2}\), \(\mu_0,\epsilon\in\, ]0,+\infty[\). Under certain assumptions that involve an auxiliary function the authors show the existence of a pair of nodal solutions \(\pm u_\epsilon\), which enjoy certain symmetries, for \(\epsilon>0\) small enough and provide information on the singular positive behavior of \(u_\epsilon\) at \(x=0\) and on the presence of negative bubbles of \(u_\epsilon\) outside of the origin. Then the authors concentrate on the case in which \(\Omega\) equals the unit ball where they can carry out a more detailed analysis on the number of bubbles, which is one of the goals of this paper.
