Bousfield localization is a process that keeps the class of cofibrations the same and adds more weak equivalences in a model category. Operads are general categorical notions that parametrize algebraic structures with multiple inputs and one output. The authors show that, under fairly general conditions, algebras over colored operads are preserved under Bousfield (co)localization functors. This problem is motivated by Morel's \(\pi_1\)-conjecture.
