After the conjecture in [\textit{V. I. Arnol'd} (ed.) and \textit{R. V. Gamkrelidze} (ed.), Dynamical systems V. Bifurcation theory and catastrophe theory. Transl. from the Russian by N. D. Kazarinoff. Berlin: Springer-Verlag (1994; Zbl 0791.00009)], which claimed that a generic \(k\)-parameter family of vector fields on \(S^2\) is structurally stable, \textit{Yu. Ilyashenko} et al. [Invent. Math. 213, No. 2, 461--506 (2018; Zbl 1434.34036)] showed that locally generic 3-parameter unfoldings of the polycycle are structurally unstable. This proved that the conjecture was wrong and posed the following question: for a given \(d\), how many independent numerical invariants can the classification of locally generic \(d\)-parameter unfoldings have? In this paper the authors construct several degenerate vector fields such that ``ears'' and ``glasses'' separatrix graphs are generated in their unfoldings. This enables them to construct: (1) Generic 3-parameter families with a tail of an infinite number sequence as an invariant of the classification; (2) A class of codimension-3 vector fields such that each vector field of this class has infinitely many different 3-parameter unfoldings; (3) Generic 4-parameter families with arbitrarily many invariants of classification, and generic 5-parameter families with functional invariants of the classification.
