Filippov algebroids are structures which generalize the notion of a Lie algebroid and a multi-Lie bracket; In principle they are defined using a generalized Jacobi identity. Following the method introduced by Crainic and Moerdijk, the authors introduce an appropriate differential graded Lie algebra in order to study deformations of Filippov algebroids. Indeed, they show that the lower-dimensional cohomology of a DGLA as such controls the deformations. Further, as mentioned in the abstract, the authors define Nijenhuis operators on Filippov algebroids and characterize trivial deformations of Filippov algebroids in terms of these operators. An application of the theory is given in the end, concerning the extension problem of a finite order deformation to higher order.
