The authors proposed a new monotone finite difference discretization of the p-Laplacian based on the asymptotic expansion from [\textit{F. del Teso} and \textit{E. Lindgren}, NoDEA, Nonlinear Differ. Equ. Appl. 28, No. 3, Paper No. 27, 33 p. (2021; Zbl 1467.35190)]. This new discretization is applied to the nonhomogeneous Dirichlet problem. The resulting system is nonlinear and its solution is obtained using both Newton-Raphson method and an explicit method based on the convergence to a steady state of an evolution problem. A comparison of the efficiency of those two solvers is presented. The proof of convergence for the numerical scheme is based on established monotonicity and consistency under the certain assumption on the relation between discretization parameter and radius. The convergence of the explicit method for the nonlinear system is also given. Some numerical experiments are performed to support theoretical results.
