Let \(\pi_q\) be a finite projective plane of order \(q\). A KM-\textit{arc} of \(\pi_q\) is a \((q+t)\)-set \(\mathcal{K}\) of points of \(\pi_q\) intersecting each line in \(0, 2\) or in \(t\) points. When \(\pi_q =\) PG\((2, q)\), these sets are related to well-known objects of finite geometries: they generalize ovals (\(t=1\)) and hyperovals (\(t=2\)), they are in correspondence with special linear sets of the projective line PG\((1, q)\) and also they are related with linear codes. They were first studied by \textit{G. Korchmáros} and \textit{F. Mazzocca} [Math. Proc. Camb. Philos. Soc. 108, No. 3, 445--459 (1990; Zbl 0716.51010)] and first examples of such sets may be found also by \textit{P. M. Lo Re} and \textit{D. Olanda} [in: Combinatorics '88. Vol. 2: Proceedings of the international conference on incidence geometries and combinatorial structures, Ravello, Italy, May 23--28, 1988. Rende: Mediterranean Press. 195--210 (1991; Zbl 0945.51538)]. \par In this nice paper, the authors generalize the notion of KM-arcs, and also they study a\(\mod p\) variant of these objects of PG\((2, p^n)\) and some characterizations results and examples are given. The paper ends with an interesting section devoted to the analogous of these objects in the real projective plane.
