The paper under review shows that a complex planar curve homeomorphic to the projective line (also known as a rational cuspidal curve) has at most \(4\) singular points. Moreover, if it has exactly \(4\) singular points, then it is a unique degree \(5\) curve up to projective equivalences. The main tools in the proof are minimal model program on surfaces and log Bogomolov-Miyaoka-Yau inequality.
