In Euclidean space, each convex polyhedron consists of some isolated vertex points, which are extreme points, spanning a convex hull mostly made of non-extreme points. According to this paper, intuitively, there is nothing remotely like a Euclidean polyhedron in a generic Riemannian manifold. The authors prove a surprising condition on curvature which is necessary for a Riemannian manifold to have a geodesic lie inside a convex hypersurface. They use this to prove the astonishing fact that, in the generic Riemannian manifold of dimension three or more, any convex set has each component either a geodesic or having its extreme points dense in its boundary.
