For a compact topological dynamical system \(T\colon X\to X\) with a unique (and hence ergodic) \(T\)-invariant Borel probability measure \(\mu\) the restriction of \(T\) to the support of \(M\) is minimal, resulting in a strictly ergodic system. \textit{R. I. Jewett} [J. Math. Mech. 19, 717--729 (1970; Zbl 0192.40601)] proved that any weak-mixing measure-preserving transformation is measurably isomorphic to a strictly ergodic system (that is, has a strictly ergodic model). In successive strengthenings of this result, \textit{W. Krieger} [in: Proc. 6th Berkeley Sympos. math. Statist. Probab., Univ. Calif. 1970, No. 2, 327--346 (1972; Zbl 0262.28013)] reduced the hypothesis of weak-mixing to ergodicity, and \textit{G. Hansel} [Math. Z. 135, 221--248 (1974; Zbl 0261.54034)] formulated (in terms of the ergodic decomposition) and proved a version of the theorem without the hypothesis of ergodicity. Specifically, Hansel constructed a strictly uniform model: a compact space with an upper semi-continuous decomposition into strictly ergodic models of the ergodic components of the original system. Here a new proof of this result is given, with a stronger conclusion giving an additional property (called ``purity'') giving more control over the invariant measures in the model constructed (roughly speaking, requiring that all of the invariant measures need to be there).
