In this paper the author uses the idea of an \textit{almost nonpositive \(k\)-Ricci curvature} to study on a compact Kähler manifold the nefness property of the canonical line bundle and the Ricci-Kähler flow. More precisely, let \((M,h)\) be a compact Kähler \(n\)-manifold with corresponding Kähler 2-form \(\omega\). Fix a point \(x\in M\) and an integer \(1\leq k\leq n\) and consider \(\mathrm{Ric}_k\vert_x\), the restriction of the Ricci curvature of \(h\) over \(x\) to holomorphic \(k\)-dimensional subspaces \(V_k(x)\) of the holomorphic tangent space over \(x\). It is clear that \(\mathrm{Ric}_1\vert_x\) is the holomorphic sectional curvature while \(\mathrm{Ric}_n\vert_x\) gives back the full Ricci curvature of \(M\) itself. Put \[ \mu_{\omega}(k):=\sup_{x\in M}\sup_{0\not=X\in V_k(x)} \frac{1}{\vert X\vert^2_h}\mathrm{Ric}_k\vert_x(X,\overline{X}) \] associated with the metric \(h\). Furthermore, let \(h'\) be another Kähler metric in the Kähler class of \(h\) and put \[ \mu_{[\omega]}(k):=\inf_{\omega'\in [\omega]}\mu_{\omega'}(k) \] associated with the Kähler class of \(h\). We say that \textit{the Kähler class \(0\not=[\omega]\in H^2(M^n)\) is of almost non-positive \(k\)-Ricci curvature} if \(\mu_{[\omega]}(k)=0\). This definition can be weakened. Let a fixed \((M, h_0)\) be given with \(0\not=[\omega_0]\in H^2(M)\); we say that \textit{\(M\) is of almost nonpositive \(k\)-Ricci curvature} if there exists a sequence \(\varepsilon_i\downarrow 0\) of positive numbers and a sequence \(\alpha_i\in H^2(M)\) of Kähler classes such that \(\mu_{\alpha_i}(k)\alpha_i<\varepsilon_i[\omega_0]\) for every \(i\in\mathbb{N}\). Then the author proves the following: (i) for every Kähler class \(\alpha\) and integer \(k\) an inequality \(\mu_{\alpha} (k)>-\infty\) holds (see Proposition 1.2); (ii) a compact Kähler manifold admitting a Kähler class \(\alpha\) of almost nonpositive \(k\)-Ricci curvature must have a nef canonical line bundle (see Theorem 1.5); (iii) a compact Kähler manifold of almost nonpositive \(k\)-Ricci curvature has a nef canonical line bundle (see Theorem 1.4); (iv) these results are then applied to the solvability of the Kähler-Ricci flow over \((M,\omega_0)\) (see Proposition 1.7).
