Horozov-Iliev method is one classic method to estimate the upper bound of the maximum number of zeros of the first Melnikov function \(M(h)\) in \(h\) on \((\alpha, \beta)\). This paper developes Horozov-Iliev's method first, then revists some piecewise smooth near-integrable systems and obtains more precise estimate on the number of limit cycles of these systems by studying the upper bound of the number of zeros of the first Melnikov function \(M(h)\).
