The authors study specially polarizable cubic fourfolds. As the extension of the theory of \textit{B. Hassett} [Compos. Math. 120, No. 1, 1--23 (2000; Zbl 0956.14031)], they prove non-emptiness and irreducibility of Hassett divisors in the moduli spaces of lattice polarizable cubic fourfolds with the lattice rank at least two. Then they show that Fermat cubic fourfold is contained in every Hassett divisor, and obtain an algorithm to determine the irreducible components of the intersection of any two Hassett divisors. Moreover, they also derive a numerical criterion of the algebraic cohomology of a cubic fourfold, which admits an associated \(K3\) surface. This enables the authors to realize infinitely many rank 11 lattices as the algebraic cohomologies of cubic fourfolds without associated \(K3\) surfaces, which answers a question of \textit{R. Laza} [Proc. Am. Math. Soc. 149, No. 8, 3209--3220 (2021; Zbl 1462.14043)].
