    Let \(M \cong \mathbb{Z}^d\) be a lattice of rank \(d\) with dual lattice \(N=\mathrm{Hom} (M, \mathbb{Z})\), living in the corresponding vector spaces \(M_{\mathbb{Q}}:= M \otimes{\mathbb{Q}}\) and \(N_{\mathbb{Q}}\) with the natural inner product \(\left< \cdot, \cdot \right> : M_{\mathbb{Q}} \times N_{\mathbb{Q}} \to{\mathbb{Q}}\). A \textit{lattice polytope} \(\Delta \subset M_{\mathbb{Q}}\) is the convex hull of finitely many points in \(M\). The \textit{fine interior} of \(\Delta\) is \[ \Delta^{\mathrm{FI}}:= \bigcup_{n \in N \setminus 0} \left\{x \in M_{\mathbb{Q}} : \left< x, n \right> \geq \min_{ x \in \Delta } \left< x, y \right> + 1 \right\}. \] One can show that \(\Delta^{\mathrm{FI}}\) is a rational polytope which contains the convex hull of the interior lattice points in \(\Delta\). One reason to study \(\Delta^{\mathrm{FI}}\) is its role in constructing minimal birational models of nondegenerate hypersurfaces defined by Laurent polynomials with Newton polytope \(\Delta\). The paper under review gives computational results on the fine interior of all 3-dimensional canonical Fano polytopes. For the entire collection see [Zbl 1497.52003].
