The authors are concerned with the problem of finding positive, classical solutions to a semilinear boundary value problem of the form \[ -\Delta u = a(x) u^{p-1} \quad\text{in \(\Omega\)}, \] where \(\Omega\) is a bounded domain of annular type in \(\mathbb{R}^N\), \(N \geq 3\), the function \(a\) is continuous and non-negative, and the exponent \(p\) is supercritical in the sense of Sobolev embeddings. The precise range in which \(p\) is allowed to vary depends on the geometry of \(\Omega\), which is assumed to enjoy some symmetry properties expressed in polar coordinates. The authors make use of a recent abstract result in non-smooth variational analysis to prove their existence results.
