The authors study three general examples of linear collision operators \(L\): the Fokker-Planck, the linear Boltzmann with a locally bounded collision frequency, and the fractional Fokker-Planck operator with a radial friction force. The local equilibria of those operators are assumed to have fat tails (unlike the maxwellians) with respect to the velocity variable \(v\). Decay rates of solutions of the kinetic equation for the distribution function \(f=f(t,x,v)\) with finite total mass \[\partial_t f+v\cdot \nabla_xf=Lf\] are determined for \(t\to\infty\).
