The authors consider Dedekind domains with non-zero ideals of finite index. For Dirichlet characters modulo non-zero ideals, the authors prove generalizations of various identities due to Menon, Sury and others. The methods are elementary and proceed by reducing to prime power ideals. The results generalize the results of several authors.
