Under consideration is the eigenvalue problem \[ -\Delta_{g_0} u_{\lambda}+Vu_{\lambda}=\lambda^2u_{\lambda},\quad x\in {\mathbb S}^2, \] where \(\Delta_{g_0}\) is the Laplace-Beltrami operator defined by the Riemannian metric \(g_0\) on \({\mathbb S}^2\) induced by the Euclidean metric on \({\mathbb R}^3\). The main result of the article is that the Sogge estimates for the eigenfunctions \[ \|u_{\lambda}\|_{L_p({\mathbb S}^2)}\leq C_p(1+|\lambda|)^{\sigma_0(p)} \|u_{\lambda}\|_{L_2({\mathbb S}^2)},\quad \sigma_0=\max(1/4-1/2p,1/2-2/p), \] locally can be improved and, in some neighborhood about a given \(x_0\in {\mathbb S}^2\) satisfying certain additional conditions, the following estimate holds: \[ \|u_{\lambda}\|_{L_p(B_r(x_0))}\leq C_p\log(2+|\lambda|)^{\varepsilon(p)}(1+|\lambda|)^{\sigma_0(p)-\delta(p)} \|u_{\lambda}\|_{L_2({\mathbb S}^2)}, \] where \(\delta(p)=|1-2/p|/18\) and \(\varepsilon(p)=2|1-2/p|\) for \(2\leq p\leq 4\), \(\delta(p)=|1-6/p|/18\) and \(\varepsilon(p)=0\) for \(4<p<\infty\), and \(B_r(x_0)\) is the closed (geodesic) ball of radius \(r\) centered at \(x_0\).
