This paper contributes to the study of the reduction theory of Hamiltonian actions of the group of Hamiltonian symplectomorphisms \(\mathrm{Ham}(M,\omega)\) on the space \(\mathcal{J}\) of compatible almost complex structures, of a compact Kähler manifold \(M\) of dimension \(n\), endowed with a natural Kähler structure. In the present case, instead the Donaldson hyper-Kähler reduction is further developed coming from the \(\mathrm{Ham}(M,\omega)\)-action on \(T^*\mathcal{J}\). Indeed, it was proved earlier by the same authors [Asian J. Math. 24, No. 4, 671--724 (2020; Zbl 1461.53054)] that a certain extra complex structure \(I\) existing on \(T^*\mathcal{J}\) produces an infinite dimensional manifold hyper-Kähler structure on a neighbourhood \(\mathcal{U}\) of the zero-section. Such hyper-Kähler structure induces two moment maps, whose coupled zeros have important consequences. The main focus here is on the abelian varieties and toric manifolds, where it is obtained a \textit{decoupling} result (two partial differential equations in place of the coupled equations, a variational characterisation, a relation to \(K\)-stability in the toric case, and a result on existence and uniqueness under suitable assumptions on the ``Higgs tensor''.
