The paper under review investigates existence, uniqueness and regularity of solutions to a Cauchy problem for Friedrichs systems on globally hyperbolic spacetimes with time-like boundary conditions. Friedrich systems include a large variety of PDEs, such as the Dirac equations, the wave and the heat equation. First the authors derive a suitable energy inequality for a Friedrichs system, which is employed in the proof of existence and uniqueness of weak solutions. Then, they show that, under some technical assumptions on the initial conditions, any weak solution is actually a strong solution. Finally, they prove the well-posedness of the Cauchy problem with admissable boundary conditions.
