Building on the machinery of their previous work in the categorification of the representation theory of \(U_q(\mathfrak{sl}_2)\), which includes categorifying tensor products of finite dimensional representations, Jones-Wenzl projectors and \(3j\)-symbols, the authors categorify the Reshetikhin-Turaev invariant of oriented framed tangles labeled by arbitrary finite-dimensional representations of \(U_q(\mathfrak{sl}_2)\). In the case of closed tangles, their construction categorifies the colored Jones polynomial in a way that is different from colored Khovanov homology. The authors point out that Khovanov's categorification is nonzero in finitely many degrees, but their invariant lies in an unbounded derived cateory and can have nonzero homology in infinitely many degrees. As an example, the authors compute their invariant for the unknot colored by the standard three-dimensional representation \(V_2\).
