In this article, the following parabolic-parabolic chemotaxis system with a logistic source is analysed: \[ \begin{cases} u_{t}=\Delta u - \chi\nabla\cdot ( u\nabla v) + u(a-bu),& t>0,\ x\in\mathbb{R}^N,\\ {v_t}=\Delta v -\lambda v+\mu u,& t>0,\ x\in\mathbb{R}^N,\\ u(0,x)=u_0,\quad v(0,x)=v_0(x),&x\in\mathbb{R}^N, \end{cases}\tag{1} \] where \(u=u(t,x)\) and \(v=v(t,x)\) are the unknowns, \(N\in\mathbb{N}\) and \(\chi, a, b, \lambda, \mu>0\) are some constants, and the pair of initial values \(u_0\geq0\) and \(v_0\geq0\) belongs to \(C_{\mathrm{unif}}^{b}(\mathbb R^N)\times C_{\mathrm{unif}}^{b,1}(\mathbb R^N)\). Solutions to (1) are understood in the classical sense. Theorem 1.1 provides local existence and uniqueness, whereas global existence, uniqueness, and boundedness is established in Theorem 1.2 under the assumption \[ b>\frac{N\chi\mu}{4}. \] For strictly positive \(u_0\), this assumption also ensures (Theorem 1.3) persistence of global bounded solutions. The letter means that starting from a sufficiently large time \(T=T(u_0,v_0)\), both solution components are bounded below by some positive constants that are independent of \((u_0, v_0)\). The final result of the paper, Theorem 1.4, guaranties global exponentially fast convergence in the \(L^{\infty}(\mathbb R^N)\times L^{\infty}(\mathbb R^N)\)-norm of solutions to the constant steady state \((\frac{a}{b},\frac{\mu}{\lambda}\frac{a}{b})\) as \(t\to\infty\). This Theorem is proved under stronger assumptions on the parameters. It requires \(b>K \chi\mu\) for some \(K=K(a,\lambda,N)>\frac{N}{4}\) and \(\lambda\geq \frac{a}{2}\).
