In this paper the authors extract explicit information from the equivariant Tamagawa number conjecture (eTNC for short) as formulated by \textit{D. Burns} and \textit{M. Flach} [Doc. Math. 6, 501--570 (2001; Zbl 1052.11077)] in interesting special cases. The main focus is on the case associated to an abelian variety \(A\) defined over a number field \(k\) and a finite (not necessarily abelian) Galois extension \(F\) of \(k\). Assuming the appropriate special case of the eTNC (also referred to as a `refined Birch and Swinnerton-Dyer conjcture') the authors construct annihilators of Tate-Shafarevich groups. They first consider some purely algebraic data that often arises in the context of the eTNC; the `characteristic element' (which is part of the data) is then conjecturally given in terms of special values of \(L\)-functions. The main algebraic result is Theorem 5.1. It is shown that these data give rise to elements in a higher (non-commutative) Fitting ideal of a certain cohomology group and suitable multiples of these elements annihilate a certain subquotient thereof. The notion of higher non-commutative Fitting ideals has recently been introduced by \textit{D. Burns} and \textit{T. Sano} [``On non-commutative Euler systems'', Preprint, \url{arXiv:2004.10564}]. This result might seem rather technical, but its interest comes from the application on abelian varieties. \textit{D. Burns} and the first author [``On refined conjectures of Birch and Swinnerton-Dyer type for Artin-Hasse-Weil \(L\)-series'', Mem. Amer. Math. Soc. (to appear)] have shown that the eTNC can be reformulated in a rather explicit way, and this reformulation gives rise to the above data. In this way, the authors construct conjectural annihilators of Tate-Shafarevich groups of abelian varieties. Finally, they consider the special case of dihedral twists of elliptic curves in more detail. Note that the case of abelian \(G\) has already been treated in the article with Burns. However, the non-abelian case is much more involved and also very interesting. Moreover, the case of an untwisted Tate motive with coefficients in the group ring \(\mathbb Q[G]\) of an abelian group \(G\) has been treated by \textit{D. Burns} et al. [Doc. Math. 21, 555--626 (2016; Zbl 1407.11133)]. So in some sense the authors of the present article formalize and extend their approach so that it becomes applicable to a much wider class of interesting cases of the eTNC.
