The authors study a version of the Keller-Segel-Navier-Stokes system with nonlinear diffusion in the chemotaxis equation, chemoattractant consumption and a tensor-valued sensitivity function in two- and three-dimensional cases. They show existence of global-in-time solutions, which appear to be bounded in two-dimensional case, under some assumptions on the exponent of the nonlinearity. These are optimal assumptions in such a general setting including rotational flux etc. Thus this gives an answer to the questions raised in [\textit{N. Bellomo} et al., Math. Models Methods Appl. Sci. 25, No. 9, 1663--1763 (2015; Zbl 1326.35397); \textit{Y. Tao} and \textit{M. Winkler}, Ann. Inst. Henri Poincaré, Anal. Non Linéaire 30, No. 1, 157--178 (2013; Zbl 1283.35154)].
