In this paper, the authors study the so-called Mal'tsev \(\mathbb{Q}\)-completion of the lamplighter group and the Lie algebra associated to them. The integer lamplighter group \(G\) is defined as follows: \(G: = < \, a, b | [a, a^{b^i}] = 1, i \in \mathbb{Z}\, >\) in terms of generators and defining relations. Both of concepts of the pronilpotent as well as the Mal'tsev \(\mathbb{Q}\)-completions of the lamplighter group \(G\) are introduced in the paper by \textit{S. O. Ivanov} and \textit{R. Mikhailov} [Geom. Topol. 23, No. 3, 1237--1249 (2019; Zbl 1430.55009)] and the authors recall in Section 1 of the paper. In Section 2, the authors introduce the link between the lamplighter group and the lamplighter Lie algebra and prove that the natural Lie algebra associated to the Mal'tsev \(\mathbb{Q}\)-completion of the lamplighter group is exactly the pronilpotent completion of the rational lamplighter Lie algebra. That is also the first result of the paper (see Theorem 1). Section 3 of the paper introduce the homology of the completion of the lamplighter Lie algebra and the authors give a result which is an extension of [\textit{S. O. Ivanov} et al., J. Algebra 560, 1092--1106 (2020; Zbl 1479.17013), Theorem 2.11] (from the list of the references). Namely, the authors prove the last result of the paper (see Theorem 2) that the homology of this pronilpotent completion of the rational lamplighter Lie algebra is of uncountable dimension in each degree, in particular, the cohomological dimension of this algebra is infinite.
