The authors prove the almost everywhere convergence of the \((C, \alpha)\) Marczinkiewicz-means. \(0<\alpha<1\), of integrable functions on the group of the two-dimensional 2-adic integers. The obtained result has its place in a pretty long story of related investigations. There was a question, related to Taibleson, whether the Fejér-Lebesgue theorem, that is, the almost everywhere convergence of the \((C,1)\) means, holds for every integrable function. \textit{G. Gát} [J. Approx. Theory 90, No. 1, 88--96 (1997; Zbl 0883.42021)] answered Taibleson's question in the affirmative. \textit{Gy. Gát} [Acta Math. Hung. 116, No. 3, 209--221 (2007; Zbl 1136.42022)] generalized his answer for every \(\alpha > 0\). On the other hand, \textit{N. J. Fine} [Proc. Natl. Acad. Sci. USA 41, 588--591 (1955; Zbl 0065.05303)] proved the Fejér-Lebesgue theorem in the Walsh-system. Zheng and Gát generalized this result for more general orthonormal systems. In the two-dimensional case, that the \((C, 1)\) Marczinkiewicz means are convergent, was proved by \textit{I. Blahota} and \textit{G. Gát} [Stud. Math. 191, No. 3, 215--222 (2009; Zbl 1172.42009)]. This result for the trigonometric system was proved by Grünwald and Zhizhiashvili. \textit{G. Gát} and \textit{U. Goginava} [Georgian Math. J. 13, No. 3, 447--462 (2006; Zbl 1107.42006)] proved the convergence of the \((C, \alpha)\)-means of quadratic partial sums of double Vilenkin-Fourier series for every integrable function. The obtained result generalizes the result of Blahota and Gát, which for the Walsh-Paley system is due to Goginava.
