The study of the birational geometry of hypersurfaces in Mori dream spaces is the main goal of the paper under review. In Theorem 1.1. it is shown that in a smooth Mori dream space of dimension \(\geq 4\) and whose extremal contractions are of fiber type and relative dimension \(\geq 2\), any smooth ample divisor \(Z \subset X\) is a Mori dream space; moreover its effective, movable and nef cones are equal, and they are the restriction of either the effective, the nef or the movable cone of \(X\). In Theorem 1.2, \(Z\) is a Fano manifold of dimension \(\geq 4\) whose extremal contractions are of fiber type, and \(X\) is a smooth element in the anticanonical linear system. In these conditions, the unique (up to isomorphism) miniminal model of \(X\) is \(X\) itself; moreover there exists a rational polyhedral cone which is a fundamental domain for the action of the group \(\mathrm{Bir}(X)\) of birational automorphisms of \(X\) on its effective movable cone. Finally, see Theorem 1.3., the general complete intersection of \(n+1\) hypersurfaces of multidegree \((1, \dots,1)\) in the self poduct of \({\mathbb P}^n\) is shown to have only finitely many minimal models; and the same result of Theorem 1.2 on the fundamental domain for the action of \(\mathrm{Bir}(X)\) holds.
