A projectional skeleton on a Banach space \(X\) is a family \(\mathfrak{s}= (P_s)_{s\in\Gamma}\) of bounded linear projections, where \(\Gamma\) is a \(\sigma\)-complete upwards directed set, that satisfies the following conditions: \begin{itemize} \item[(i)] \(P_s[K]\) is separable for every \(s\in\Gamma\), \item[(ii)] \(P_s=P_s\circ P_t =P_t\circ P_s\) whenever \(s, t\in\Gamma\) satisfy \(s\leq t\), \item[(iii)] \(P_s[X]=\overline{\bigcup_{n\in\omega} P_{s_n}[X]}\) for every increasing sequence \((s_n)_{n\in\omega}\in\Gamma\) with supremum~\(s\), \item[(iv)] \(X=\bigcup_{s\in\Gamma} P_s[X]\). \end{itemize} Projectional skeletons were introduced by \textit{W. Kubiś} [J. Math. Anal. Appl. 350, No. 2, 758--776 (2009; Zbl 1166.46008)] as a strengthening of the more classical notion of projectional resolution of the identity. More recently, they have been employed in several papers to characterise classes of Banach spaces via the properties of the projectional skeletons that they possess (for example, there are characterisations of Asplund, WCG, WLD, or WLD Asplund spaces). \textit{M. Fabian} and \textit{V. Montesinos} [Funct. Approximatio, Comment. Math. 59, No. 2, 231--250 (2018; Zbl 1447.46018)] pointed out that the classes of weakly \(\mathcal{K}\)-analytic spaces and Vašák (or weakly countably determined) spaces had not been considered yet in this direction. The authors' goal in the present paper is to fill this gap in the literature, by providing the corresponding characterisations, presented in Theorems~A and~B, respectively. Along the way of the proof, the authors also need to employ separable projectional resolutions of the identity (SPRI), which additionally yields characterisations of weakly \(\mathcal{K}\)-analytic and Vašák spaces in terms of SPRI. The same method also produces new characterisations of WCG and SWCG spaces (subspaces of WCG) in terms of SPRI. Further, the authors also provide in Theorem C an interesting and useful ``diagonalisation'' result for countable families of projectional skeletons on a Banach space with the same induced set. More precisely, if \((\mathfrak{s}_n)_{n\in\omega}\) is a sequence of projectional skeletons on \(X\) with a common induced set, then there is a projectional skeleton that is isomorphic to a subskeleton of each \(\mathfrak{s}_n\).
