The authors investigate the divisor sequence of atoms in Krull monoids. The goal is to determine what nondecreasing, eventually constant sequences occur as as the divisor sequence of an irreducible element in a Krull monoid? The article begins by laying out the foundations, definitions, and historical background research on this topic. They then move to provide some infinite families of sequences satisfying some natural properties that both can and cannot occur as divisor sequences of atoms in Krull monoids. Then the main result is provided to answer this question posed above. The authors provide a method for glomming together two Krull monoids with fixed atoms in such a way that one obtains an atom in a new Krull monoid whose divisor sequence can easily be obtained from the divisor sequences of the two fixed atoms. They continue by showing that most sequences satisfying certain properties are realizable as the divisor sequence of an atom in a Krull monoid. Finally, the authors study the effect of (weak) transfer homomorphisms on divisor sequences. The article is efficiently written and has many remarks and examples provided throughout to help guide the reader along.
