Let \(M\) be a closed manifold, \(f: M \to M\) be a smooth diffeomorphism, and \(X\subset M\) be a topological mixing hyperbolic attractor. For any continuous function \(G: X \to \mathbb{R}\), one can consider the pressure function \(P(G)=P(X,f,G)\) and the equilibrium states of \(G\). If \(G\) is Hölder continuous, then there exists a unique equilibrium state for \(G\), say \(\mu_G\), which is also a Gibbs measure. The same conclusion holds for hyperbolic attractors of flows. In the paper the authors present an elegant construction of Gibbs measures for hyperbolic attractors of both diffeomorphisms and flows. This generalizes the classical theory of SRB measures. A different construction of equilibrium states under similar conditions was given in [\textit{V. Climenhaga} et al., Bull. Am. Math. Soc., New Ser. 56, No. 4, 569--610 (2019; Zbl 1430.37036)].
