    Let \(\mathcal{X}\) be a linear normed space and \(E\) an inner product space. Suppose that \(f:\mathcal{X} \to E\), with \(f(0)=0\), satisfies one of these two inequalities: \[ \Vert 2f(x)+2f(y)-f(x-y)\Vert \le \Vert f(x+y)\Vert \] for all \(x, y \in \mathcal{X}\) with \(\Vert x\Vert +\Vert y\Vert \ge d\), for some positive \(d\), or \[ \Vert f(z-x)+f(z-y)-\frac{1}{2}f(x-y)\Vert \le 2\Vert f(z-\frac{x+y)}{2})\Vert \] for all \(x, y, z \in \mathcal{X}\) with \(\Vert x\Vert +\Vert y\Vert +\Vert z\Vert \ge d\), for some positive \(d\). Then the function \(f\) is quadratic, namely it satisfies the functional equation \[ f(x+y)+f(x-y)=2f(x)+2f(y) \] for all \(x, y \in \mathcal{X}\). Moreover, the Hyers-Ulam stability on restricted domain is investigated.
