Superdifferential analysis of the Takagi-van der Waerden functions (Q2158822)

This paper deals with the superdifferential of the Takagi-Van der Waerden functions and with the set of points, where the Takagi-Van derWaerden functions have a local maximum. A brief survey is devoted to the Takagi function and some its generalization (the Takagi-Van der Waerden function). The Fréchet subdifferential of a function at a point is described, the superdifferential of the Takagi-Van der Waerden functions and the local maxima of these functions are considered. The Hausdorff dimension and corresponding Hausdorff measure are calculated for the set of points, where the superdifferential is not empty. Also, for any even integer greater than or equal to two, it is determined the \(1/2\)-dimensional Hausdorff measure of the set of points, where the Takagi-Van der Waerden functions attain their global maximum. It is noted that the Takagi-Van der Waerden functions have empty subdifferential and superdifferential almost everywhere.
