Conjectures of Braverman and Kazhdan, refined by Ngo, give a framework for studying general Langlands \(L\)-functions. Under suitable assumptions, the authors use this framework to prove that gamma-factors of general Langlands \(L\)-functions are invariant under parabolic induction. They isolate a subspace of the Schwartz space of a reductive monoid, and prove that this subspace contains the basic function. Further they discuss the resolution of singularities and their rationality for reductive monoids; these are among the basic objects in the program. Moreover they prove multiplicativity for \(\gamma\)-factors defined by the method of Braverman-Kazhdan/Ngo and L. Lafforgue under the assumption that the \(\rho\)-Fourier transforms on the group \(G\) and the inducing Levi subgroup \(L\) commute with the \(\rho\)-Harish-Chandra transform. The latter is a generalized Satake transform sending \(C_c^\infty(G(k))\to C_c^\infty(L(k))\), defined in this paper, where \(\rho\) is a finite dimensional representation of the \(L\)-group of \(G\) by means of which the \(\gamma\)-factors are defined.
